  1. Hey,

Got a Pro-Ject Debut Carbon Esprit SB and love it.

It has a Ortofon 2M reddish stylus. Assume I tin can just pull off and replace?

    Seems easy looking at videos........

Is the blueish stylus much of a difference?

    Thanks in advance,

    Nick

  2. Yes, the Blueish is an upgrade, and replacing the stylus is elementary. Enjoy your Ortofon.
    nosliw and Heckto35 similar this.
  3. Is information technology a massive upgrade? Price deviation would suggest so.
  4. I went straight from the red to the Bronze, so I don't have firsthand cognition, but I'thousand assuming that you will hear a huge difference.
Heckto35 and Colin M like this.
  5. Not every bit large every bit yous would think for twice as much money.
    CCrider92 and dmckean like this.
  6. When I changed my Scarlet for a Bluish, I thought the alter in sound quality was pretty subtle but that the decrease in inner groove distortion was not.
  7. The departure might be more noticeable if you have components that are able to reveal those differences simply if you fill out your profile, maybe others with like gear and feel tin comment on what you might expect.
  8. Going from Red to Blue is the most audible upgrade in the line. And the near price effective.
  9. Maybe the near toll effective, but I'm pretty sure going from blood-red to black might exist more of an upgrade.
  10. OM twoscore is many times better than a 2M Blackness. Fritz Gyger stylus beats Shibatas. Not to mention less expensive. Non every tape sounds best on a Shibata.
  11. I don't take enough enough adept to say virtually the Blue. It was a noticeable upgrade in sound quality (relievedly so after what I paid) and really the start time I can say then without questioning whether I'yard fooling myself or not.

As well, inner groove distortion nearly disappeared. Information technology's very easy to ready and with some minor tweaking y'all can actually become it to sing.

There is a overnice balanced tone to it. Yous may non exist able to dig out the highest highs or lowest lows (though it does a great job) in that location is a squeamish overall clarity.

  12. Yeah, and yes. Is it a massive upgrade? Well, no, but it is certainly meliorate and for not besides much outlay, The Statuary kicks ass but costs twice again as much. No affair, if y'all can afford it, get the Bronze. You'll not regret information technology.

  13. And, the Bronze has the added do good of having the ability to upgrade to the Blackness, just by irresolute the stylus, and then you will always have that choice.
  14. Having upgraded from the Carmine to the Blue a few months ago, I take to say the deviation is noticeable and well worth the extra money. Wish I would have bought the Blue outright as it would take been cheaper in the cease. Major departure is its superior tracking every bit compared to the Red. The Ruby-red tracked fine most of the fourth dimension, but on some hot-cut records and inner grooves there could exist excessive sibilance. All that vanished with the Blue plus the sound overall is smoother and more than detailed.
    recstar24 and McLover similar this.
  15. Sort of. The difference in cost betwixt the stylus and the cart/stylus is so minimal you don't save that much.
  16. Y'all only save the cart alignment that you lot don't have to do.
  17. Yep!!!! That is worth it.
  18. I'1000 not sure where you are getting your figures from, only the black stylus alone sells on Amazon for for $576

Simply there is definitely a feasible upgrade path available to you.

Usually, if you lot buy XYZ Anything, yous accept to completely discard information technology (or sell information technology), and purchase the adjacent item up the totem pole.

ANYTIME, that a manufacturer, offers an upgrade path, it is welcomed, because the vast majority do non.

The black, has a nude Shibata stylus the renders more item in the grooves than the Bronze does, but... it also brings out more imperfections in the vinyl than the Bronze does. Significant, your records are nosier, unless they are cleanly pressed and are otherwise in immaculate status. Then your vinyl can really polish!

The dazzler of this upgrade is, you lot even so have the Bronze, which is a beautiful cartridge. And, y'all Too accept the black! Y'all accept the best of both worlds. Well-nigh of the time, when you upgrade anything, you lot surrender what you had, for what you will finish up getting.

How tin can this choice be any improve?

Going for the Blueish over the Red will only save you a few dollars, over buying the blue, in the kickoff identify. Which is why I recommend buying the entire blueish cartridge and stylus. This way, you have two cartridge bodies. If 1 should fail, then yous have a fill-in cartridge, for only a few dollars more that purchasing the bluish stylus. You see that it has an cheap and erstwhile cartridge, probably with a well worn needle. Is this what you desire playing your records? Of course non. But you lot take a nice, modernistic Ortofon 2M Cherry cartridge that you tin can put on the tonearm.

And so for less than $36, you at present have a new, modernistic cartridge for your TT.

The 2M Blue replacement stylus on Amazon, lists for $204. The 2M Bluish cartridge (with the Blue stylus) on Amazon is only $235.98. Which amounts to a 35.98 dollar difference.

The Bronze cart due west/stylus is listed on Amazon for $503. While the 2M Black cart is listed on Amazon for $750. A difference of $247.

  19. This is 100% true. The OM 4o is half the price and sounds at to the lowest degree as skillful, if not better than the 2M Black. Mode improve than the 2M Blue or fifty-fifty Statuary.
  20. Way better?
    Can you eloborate?
  21. Better stylus, FG70. Far less IGD. Better specs than even the Shibata. Why Ortofon went with the Shibata on the 2M Black when it's predecessor had the superior Fritz Gyger I'll never know. Oh, and at more than double the price. Check out KAB to buy an OM 40 for about $350.
  22. Indeed. Non to mention the best tracking MM Ortofon ever fabricated. The 2M Black is more than double the price, and junior on IGD and on tracking ability to boot. Better specifications all effectually.
    Heckto35 and snorker like this.
  23. How about a comparing surface noise wise between the ii?

  24. Yes, the 40 stylus fits the 2M Black body!
